Biographical Information[edit]

Johnny Reagan played in the minors and then was a college coach.

Reagan was high school state MVP in basketball in 1944. [1] In college, he was All-Conference all four years in basketball and was the only player in Murray State annals to lead the school in every statistical category in a season; on the diamond, he threw a one-hitter. [2] He was 6-5 with a 5.21 ERA for the 1949 West Frankfort Cardinals despite over a walk per inning. His 117 walks were 6th in the Mississippi-Ohio Valley League.

He became head baseball coach and assistant basketball coach at Murray State in 1958, going 776-508-11 as head baseball coach before retiring at the end of 1993. He won 11 Ohio Valley Conference titles, being named Coach of the Year ten times. He would serve as athletic director from 1978-1987 as well. He made the American Baseball Coaches Association Hall of Fame, the Murray State Hall of Fame and the OVC Hall of Fame. [3] Among the players he coached were Jack Perconte, Pat Jarvis and Kirk Rueter.
