Biographical Information[edit]

Pat Jarvis is an answer to two trivia questions. Playing for the Atlanta Braves in 1966, he was the first strikeout victim of Nolan Ryan. Four years later, he surrendered Ernie Banks' 500th home run.

After retiring from baseball, Jarvis served several terms as sheriff of DeKalb County, in suburban Atlanta, GA. He was ultimately convicted of corruption charges associated with the management of the DeKalb County jail. He was sentenced to 15 months in prison. He later ran a farm in Rutledge, GA, growing vegetables and flowers.
