Biographical Information[edit]
John Van Ornum played in the minors from 1959 to 1964, first as an infielder, then gradually being converted to catcher.
After retiring, Van Ornum managed in the minors San Francisco Giants chain from 1973 to 1978. He scouted for the Giants in 1979, then was a Giant coach from 1980 to 1984.
