Biographical Information[edit]

John Lynch was drafted in the second round of the 1992 Amateur Draft by the Florida Marlins and was signed by legendary scout Gary Hughes.

He started the first game in the history of the Marlins organization, a short season A game for the Erie Sailors against the Jamestown Expos in June 1992. He finished his baseball career the following season playing two games for the class A Kane County Cougars. He went 1-3 with an ERA of 2.37 in 9 games, all starts.

He went on to become a star strong safety in the NFL making nine Pro Bowls (he was First Team All-Pro in 1999 & 2000) and winning a Super Bowl with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (2003) during a career which spanned from 1993-2007. He was then a color commentator for NFL games on FOX. In 2017 Lynch became the General Manager of the San Francisco 49ers.

He and his wife, Linda, have four children: Jake, Lindsay, Lillian, and Leah Rose. Linda played tennis at the University of Southern California and was a professional tennis player for two years.
