Biographical Information[edit]
John Angel was a scout for the Cleveland Indians based in California starting aroung 1930. He signed Cliff Mapes among others.
In July 1946, Angel president of the Bakersfield Indians and was negotiating on the purchase of from a local group for the Indians, when he resigned citing Cleveland management ignoring his telegrams and criticizing the attitude of the Bakersfield owners. By August he had returned to his positions with the club.
Angel died of a heart attack while driving his car in San Diego, CA.
His son John Angel Jr. was business manager of Bakersfield in 1946 and Burlington Indians in 1947.
