Landrum was a high school and college pitching star. In college, he reportedly pitched a no-hitter when matched against Carl Erskine.
He pitched for the Montreal Royals in 1950. He had also been with the Fort Worth Cats.
His major league pitching career was cut short by the Korean War. After his service, he returned to school to get an engineering degree and an ROTC commission.
His son Bill Landrum pitched in the major leagues in the 1980s and 1990s.
