Biographical Information[edit]

Joe Henderson Jr. is the son of long-time scout Joe Henderson, brother of Ken Henderson and Robbie Henderson, and uncle of Kenny Henderson. He is also a cousin of Kerry Dineen, on his mother's side. He was drafted in the 4th round of the January 1980 amateur draft by the San Francisco Giants and played in the minor leagues from 1980 to 1985, also being in the Milwaukee Brewers and Chicago Cubs organizations. His final three seasons were in AA. He played in a Texas League All-Star Game in 1983, representing the Brewers. He was a catcher but also played third base and first base, and was a switch hitter.

Joe Jr. like his Dad has worked with a number of San Diego area players helping them with baseball. Currently he is working with the San Diego Longhorns (https://www.sandiegolonghorns.com/Default.aspx?tabid=2308075).

Joe's son Casey played shortstop at Rancho Bernardo High School in San Diego and also pitched. He went to UCRiverside, Palomar College, and Chico State in college and played shortstop. Like his father he had excellent hands. Casey decided to forego a possible professional career in baseball as he wanted to complete his education.
