Biographical Information

Joe Biasucci peaked at AA.

The Boston Red Sox chose Joe in the 26th round of the 1988 amateur draft but he continued on to junior college. Biasucci was taken by the Chicago Cubs in the 22nd round of the 1990 amateur draft. He turned an offer to Jacksonville University to sign. He split the summer between the Huntington Cubs (3 for 16, 2B, 2 BB) and the Geneva Cubs (.298/.364/.440). The Canadian infielder also split 1991, between the Winston-Salem Spirits (.275/.371/.365 in 67 G) and Charlotte Knights (.220/.298/.260 in 24 G). Having reached AA his second season, he would never go further.

The second baseman split 1992 between Winston-Salem (.237/.311/.376 in 30 G) and the Peoria Chiefs (.261/.349/.418 in 74 G). He moved to the St. Louis Cardinals chain as a free agent in 1993 and had his big year, batting .289/.390/.575 with 30 doubles, 26 homers, 86 RBI and 15 steals in 21 tries for the Springfield Cardinals. He had almost half of his career home run total that year. Biasucci led Cardinals farmhands in home runs and paced the Midwest League in both slugging and homers (one ahead of Scott Talanoa, who had missed over a month with injuries). He was named the MWL All-Star second baseman and MVP.

The minor league veteran put up a .254/.350/.437 line with 15 home runs for the 1994 Arkansas Travelers. He ended up in 1995 with the Canton-Akron Indians, batting .244/.348/.348. Overall, he had hit .267/.359/.440 in 524 minor league games.
