Biographical Information[edit]

Jodam Rivera played as high as AA and for the Puerto Rican national team.

Rivera was taken by the San Diego Padres in the 23rd round of the 2004 amateur draft. He split 2004 between the AZL Padres (.276/.346/.324 in 48 G) and Eugene Emeralds (1 for 8, BB), splitting time between second and short. In '05, he hit .241/.326/.265 for Eugene. In 2006, he bounced all over the Padres chain, with the utility man making appearances for five teams - the AZL Padres (.409/.480/.432 in 11 G), Eugene (.361/.452/.417 in 10 G), Fort Wayne Wizards (.217/.261/.226 in 31 G), Lake Elsinore Storm (.200/.267/.218 in 19 G) and Mobile BayBears (2 for 8, 2B).

He found stability in 2007, hitting .225/.329/.327 for Fort Wayne, playing all four infield positions and pitching briefly (0-1, 2 R in 3 IP). In '08, he batted .218/.335/.267 for the Storm, He was 1 for 10 with two walks that winter for the Lobos de Arecibo. He then played in the independent leagues. In 2009, he hit .255/.347/.364 with 6 triples and 70 runs in 93 games for the Lake Erie Crushers, fielding .959 as their main shortstop. He was 4th in the Frontier League in three-baggers.

Back with the Crushers in '10, he batted .249/.302/.307 and went 15-for-21 in steal attempts. He hit .252/.321/.367 in a third season with Lake Erie. He then was with Puerto Rico for the 2014 Central American and Caribbean Games, backing up Francisco Lindor at SS and Kevin Fontanez at 2B. He drew one walk, was hit by one pitch and scored one run without getting an at-bat; in the field, he had a putout and assist with no errors.
