Biographical Information[edit]
Jim Romano was one of many young pitchers given pitching time by the Brooklyn Dodgers and manager Burt Shotton in 1950. Romano was 23, and other young pitchers included Billy Loes, 20, Joe Landrum, 21, Erv Palica, 22, Carl Erskine, 23, Chris Van Cuyk, 23, Clem Labine, 23, Don Newcombe, 24, and Ralph Branca, 24. And yet it was not a bad team - the Dodgers finished 2nd that year, with 89 victories.
