Biographical Information[edit]

Despite playing 11 years in AAA, catcher Jim Napier never made it to the major leagues. Overall, he played 14 years in the minors, almost entirely in the Chicago White Sox chain, then managed for nine on the farm. He often hit under .230 in backup roles and reached double-digit home runs once, with 18 in 1958 in his first year in Organized Baseball.

Napier spent 1981 as a minor league pitching instructor for the Chicago Cubs and 1985 as Director of Player Development for the Cleveland Indians.
