Biographical Information[edit]

Infielder Jim McKnight played in the minor leagues from 1978 to 1982 and in 1985. He began his career in the St. Louis Cardinals system, hitting .311/.379/.413 with 13 stolen bases in 70 games for the Calgary Cardinals in 1978. After batting .131/.180/.167 in 30 games for the Gastonia Cardinals in 1980, the Cardinals let him go. He joined the Houston Astros system in 1980, playing for the Daytona Beach Astros through 1982. In 1981, he batted .295 for the club. After not playing in 1983 and 1984, he joined the Miami Marlins briefly in 1985.

Overall, he batted .261/.311/.313 with one home run and 123 RBI in 353 games. He also pitched three games, posting a 3.00 ERA.

His brother, Jeff and father Jim played in the major leagues. Jeff died less than one month after Jim Jr., on March 1, 2015.
