Biographical Information[edit]
Jim McKnight had one career extra base hit, a pinch hit triple off Bobby Shantz on April 10, 1962. McKnight scored on a sacrifice fly by Lou Brock. The Chicago Cubs lost the game to the Houston Colt .45's, 11-2.
McKnight's major league career consisted of 91 at-bats, but his professional career lasted from 1955 to 1972. He spent almost all of 1960-1971 at the AAA level, then managed the Decatur Commodores in 1972 and made some token playing appearances that year.
He is the father of Jeff McKnight and Jim McKnight Jr..
