The Calgary Cardinals were a St. Louis Cardinals affiliate in the Pioneer League for two years. In 1977, led by manager Johnny Lewis, the team posted a 34-36 record and finished fourth out of six teams. Jim Reeves led the circuit with a .376 batting average, and third baseman Ty Waller paced the circuit with 96 hits and 77 RBIs. Shortstop LeRoy Grossini also made the All-Star team. Lewis was back in 1978, and the Cardinals improved to 37-32 and third place. Catcher Dennis Delany and pitcher Axel Vegas were All-Stars for the club that season.
