Biographical Information[edit]

Jim Dedrick was drafted from Southern California College in the 33rd round of the 1990 amateur draft by the Baltimore Orioles. He spent 1990-1995 rising through the Orioles farm system, ultimately making his major league debut August 12, 1995. His final major league outing came a little over a month later on September 19th. His stint in the majors saw Dedrick throw in six games, working 7 2/3 innings allowing just 2 earned runs and sitting at a 2.35 ERA.

Dedrick continued playing in the Orioles system in 1996. In 1997, Dedrick started the year in the Texas Rangers organization before finishing the year in the Montreal Expos system. He spent 1998 in Triple-A with the Richmond Braves. In 1999 and the start of the 2000 season, Dedrick played for the Cleveland Indians AA and AAA affiliates before finishing with the Boston Red Sox' Double-A affiliate Trenton Thunder.

Dedrick played again a few years later in 2003, throwing three games for the Berkshire Black Bears of the independent Northeast League.

In all, Dedrick played 11 seasons in the minor leagues, in addition to his 6 games in the majors in 1995.

Jim Dedrick scouted for the Arizona Diamondbacks after his playing career. He signed Konrad Schmidt and Bryan Shaw.
