Biographical Information[edit]

Jessen Grant pitched for two seasons in the minors.

Grant was 4-3 with a 4.60 ERA as a junior at Columbia, then 3-5 with a 5.33 ERA as a senior. The St. Louis Cardinals took the tall righty in the 43rd round of the 2004 amateur draft, one round after Matt Rigoli. He split the summer between the Johnson City Cardinals (0-1, 5.79, 11 BB in 14 IP) and New Jersey Cardinals (0 R in 4 2/3 IP). He was part of a five-man no-hitter for Johnson City against the Greeneville Astros. He took over in the 7th, succeeding Tim Lemon and Gregg Pleeter, and worked one inning; Timothy Gross and Brian Parish finished it up. In 2005, he was 1-0 with a save and a 3.34 ERA for New Jersey but control remained an issue with 22 walks in 32 1/3 IP. In 41 minor league games, he had gone 1-1 with a save and a 3.71 ERA. In 51 IP, he allowed 45 hits and 33 walks while striking out 41.
