Biographical Information

Jerry Howarth was a long-time announcer.

Howarth was in the US Army in Germany from 1968-1970. He became a broadcaster for the Tacoma Twins in 1974, then worked with the Salt Lake City Gulls from 1976-1978. He worked in basketball for a short period, then joined the Toronto Blue Jays in 1981, working with Tom Cheek on the radio end until Cheek passed away from cancer in 2005. He held that role until the end of the 2017 season. His last partners in the radio were Joe Siddall and Mike Wilner; he had previously worked with Warren Sawkiw, Alan Ashby and Jack Morris. In February 2018, he announced his retirement from the booth, stating that health issues had affected his voice and stamina. He became a Canadian citizen during his long career with the team. He published his autobiography in 2019.

In 2012, he was the winner of the Jack Graney Award.
