Biographical Information[edit]

Jeremy Shelby is the son of John Shelby, brother of John Shelby III and JaVon Shelby, and cousin of Josh Harrison and Vince Harrison.

Shelby was picked by the San Diego Padres in the 46th round of the 2005 amateur draft. He played two years in junior college, then transferred to Grambling State University. He had a strong season in 2010, hitting .360 with 50 runs and 21 steals in 24 tries. He made first-team All-Southwestern Athletic Conference. The Baltimore Orioles picked him in the 38th round of the 2010 amateur draft; the scout was Mike Tullier. He was the first Grambling State player picked in six years (since James Cooper). He doubled in his first pro at-bat for the Bluefield Orioles. He hit .228/.295/.346 with 41 strikeouts in 127 at-bats. He fielded .948 while manning all three outfield slots. He was released before the start of the 2011 season.
