Biographical Information[edit]

Catcher Jeff Edwards played in the Houston Astros system from 1985 to 1987. He was taken by the club in the seventh round of the 1985 amateur draft, a few picks after pitcher Jeff Fischer and ahead of pitcher Jeff Ballard.

He hit .219/.309/.312 with 11 home runs and 54 RBI in 494 career at-bats. Though he briefly reached Triple A in 1986 (for two games), he never played above A-ball any time else. Perhaps his best campaign was 1986, when he hit .249/.356/.363 with eight home runs and 39 RBI in 90 games between the Auburn Astros, Asheville Tourists and Tucson Toros.
