Biographical Information

Jeff Beachum played in the minors and Germany.

Beachum hit .389 as a high school senior and set school records for ERA and strikeouts as well. He hit .309/.346/.377 as a college freshman the .326/.385/.419 with 41 runs in 61 games as a sophomore and was named the All-Sun Belt Conference shortstop. He did better yet (.346/.372/.459, 42 R, 41 RBI in 54 G) as a junior. His senior year, he produced at a .395/.435/.512 clip with 62 runs in 55 games. He was among the conference leaders in average, runs (tied for 6th with Johnny Giavotella) and hits (98, tied for 3rd) yet did not make All-Conference.

Undrafted, he signed with the New York Yankees. He appeared for the GCL Yankees (.196/.339/.283 in 15 G), Staten Island Yankees (3 for 10, 2B), Charleston RiverDogs (5 for 32, 3B, BB) and Tampa Yankees (4 for 17, BB) the summer of 2006 and fielded .988 at 2B and .981 at SS. He was a backup shortstop for the 2008 Washington Wild Things, hitting .294/.351/.333 in 16 games.

In 2009, he moved to the Gary SouthShore RailCats as a utility man and hit .309/.372/.399. Had he qualified, he would have been 9th in the Northern League in average. He slumped to .278/.305/.380 with Gary in 2010, mostly playing 3B. He was only 10 for 62 with two walks for the 2011 RailCats.

Beachum then moved on to Germany. He hit .388/.469/.561 with 26 runs and 24 RBI in 24 games for the Mannheim Tornadoes; playing short primarily, he fielded .926. He was 8th in the southern Bundesliga-1 in average and RBI, tied Matt Vance and Ludwig Glaser for third in hits (38), tied for 9th in runs and ranked 10th in slugging and OBP.
