Biographical Information[edit]

Jay Franklin pitched in the minor leagues and the CPBL.

Franklin was drafted by the Texas Rangers in the 8th round of the 1989 Amateur Draft, and he was 1-3 with a 9.90 ERA for the Butte Copper Kings in 1989. He had a 4-7 record with a 3.10 ERA for the Gastonia Rangers in 1990, then he missed the entire 1991 season. Franklin returned in 1992 in Gastonia, and he went 2-3 with a 3.26 ERA. He moved to the Chicago Cubs organization in 1993, and he had a 3-11 record with a 3.49 ERA for the Daytona Cubs. He tied Giovanni Carrara, Tom Singer and Sean Lowe for 5th in losses in the Florida State League. Franklin’s ERA rose to 6.30 in Daytona in 1994, and he signed with the Jungo Bears in 1995. Franklin was 2-6 with a 3.76 ERA for the Bears, and that was his last season as a professional player.
