Biographical Information[edit]

Javier Mirabal has pitched in Cuba and Mexico and for the Cuban national team.

He debuted with the Naranjas de Villa Clara in the 2015-2016 Cuban Serie Nacional, going 0-1 with a 2.57 ERA but with 11 walks in 7 innings. He had a 3-3, 4.20 record as a swingman in 2016-2017. He started 2017-2018 2-1 with a save and a 3.35 ERA. When Villa Clara did not make the second half, he reinforced Matanzas and was 3-0 with 3 saves and a 0.00 ERA in 13 2/3 IP but yielded 3 runs in one inning in the postseason. [1] He was 4-7 with five saves and a 4.91 ERA for the 2018-2019 Naranjas. He tied for 4th in the league in losses.

Mirabal was moved into the rotation in 2019-2020 and had a 5-4, 4.53 record in the first half. He again reinforced Matanzas in the second half (1-1, 3.95). He fell to 2-7, 6.14 in 2020-2021 but rebounded to 5-5, 4.15 in 2021-2022 (as of 10/14/2024, BR Register has the years mixed up). He tied Carlos Juan Viera for 9th in WHIP (1.33). [2] He was 1-3 with a save and a 2.81 ERA for the Centrales de Matanzas, Cienfuegos & Villa Clara in the new Cuban Elite League in 2022. In the 2022 Caribbean Baseball Cup, he had a 3.60 ERA in three outings for second-place Cuba. [3]

The Placetas native was 6-5 with two saves and a 2.64 ERA for Villa Clara in 2023. He tied for second in shutouts (2), was 10th in WHIP (1.36) and 6th in ERA (between Wilber Reyna and Yunieski García). [4] He was with Cuba for the 2023 Central American and Caribbean Games, posting a 6.00 ERA in three appearances as Cuba took Silver. [5] That winter, he pitched in Mexico, with 3 runs in 3 2/3 IP for the Águilas de Mexicali. Staying in Mexico for the summer, he had a 6.28 ERA in 11 games for the Bravos de León.
