Biographical Information[edit]

James Ramshaw pitched for the Australian national team.

Ramshaw came to the US for college ball, going 4-1 with a 3.78 ERA for Lewis-Clark in 1998. He was much sharper in 1999 (10-0, Sv, 2.97) as his team won the 1999 NAIA College World Series. He was superb that summer for the Cape Cod League's Cotuit Kettleers (1-2, 1.22 ERA, 17 H, 41 K in 37 IP). [1] He was third in the elite league in ERA, behind Kevin Zaug and Shawn Weaver. [2]

Transferring to Florida, he was redshirted in 2000 due to an elbow injury, pitching four games (1-1, 6.43) and underwent Tommy John Surgery. In 2001, he had a 5-3, 5.80 record. [3] He was 6-4 with a 4.80 ERA as a senior, the team's #3 starter behind Alex Hart and Keith Ramsey. [4]

He pitched for Australia when they won the 2003 Oceania Championship to advance closer to the 2004 Olympics. [5] He made his Claxton Shield debut for the 2003 Australian Provincial baseball team, going 0-1 with a 14.29 ERA, allowing 11 hits and 6 walks in 5 2/3 IP. He had a 5.40 ERA in two outings for them in 2004 and was 1-1 with two unearned runs in three innings in 2005. [6]
