Biographical Information

James Paton has pitched for the Russian national team.

Paton joined the RusStars in 2020. In the 2021 European Championship Qualifier, he pitched four no-hit innings versus Turkey then Ilyin Uladidzlav completed the no-no. He had two walks and 11 whiffs. Russia won the event handily. They then moved on to the 2021 European Championship and he again made one start, this time facing Austria. He began by getting Moritz Scheicher to ground out but then walked Philipp Eckel and Benni Salzmann and yielded a three-run shot to Ferdinand Obed. He allowed no more hits or runs in the next 2 2/3 IP but walked three more before giving way for Anton Kuznetsov with a 5-3 lead; Russia went on to win, Dmitry Shtykher getting the decision.
