Biographical Information[edit]

Pitcher James Murrey has pitched in France.

He attended Macalester College in St. Paul, MN from 2007 to 2010 after going to high school in Illinois. He was 6-4 with a 2.77 ERA with 62 K in 61 2/3 IP as a freshman then 7-2 with a save and a 2.29 ERA as a sophomore. His junior year, he was better yet at 6-3, 1.95 with 76 whiffs in 55 1/3 IP. He was named team MVP as both a sophomore and junior.

He has since played in the French Division I. He debuted with the Toulouse Tigers, going 6-2 with a 1.11 ERA and 70 K in 56 IP in 2011 while hitting .290/.361/.355. He led the league in ERA (.33 ahead of Jordan Crystal), was third in opponent average, tied for third in wins (behind Clayton Cooper and Mathieu Brelle-Andrade) and was 5th in whiffs (between Laurent Andrades and Brelle-Andrade). 2012-2013 statistics are unavailable online as of June 2015. In 2014, Murrey starred for the Paris Université Club, going 9-2 with a 1.84 ERA. He led the league with 83 innings pitched, was second with 64 whiffs (23 behind Will Musson), led in wins (one over Musson) and ranked 8th in ERA (between Jason Daniels and Owen Ozanich).

In 2015, he took part in the 2015 European Cup with the host Paris club. He got their lone win, beating the Belarusian Brest Zubrs in the opener, then lost to T&A San Marino. He was 1-1 with a 3.00 ERA for the event with 16 K, 2 BB and 8 H in 12 IP. He was 4th in the Paris pool in opponent average (.174, between Raul Rivero and Rob Cordemans), was 5th in ERA (lowest of any qualifier who allowed an earned run), tied for first in wins, led in innings and led in Ks (5 more than Rivero, Nils Hartkopf and Alex Lukashevich).
