Biographical Information[edit]

Infielder Jalen Miller was a third-round pick by the San Francisco Giants in the 2015 amateur draft, out of a high school in the greater Atlanta, GA area. He began his pro career that summer with the AZL Giants hitting .218 in 44 games while playing shortstop. In 2016, he moved up to the Augusta GreenJackets of the South Atlantic League, where he hit .223/.271/.322 in 112 games as a second baseman. He was much younger than the average player in the circuit, and the Giants continued to push him in 2017, moving him up to Advanced Class A with the San Jose Giants of the California League. There he posted very similar numbers, at .227/.283/.346 in 117 games, again being significantly underage for the league. He played mainly second base again, although with some time at short as well.

In 2018, Miller repeated a level, returning to San Jose, and he posted the best numbers of his young career, with a line of .276/.321/.434 in 123 games. He began to show power for the first time, with 35 doubles and 14 homers and also scored 73 runs while driving in 62. On April 11th, he was part of a rare feat when he and teammate Gio Brusa both hit for the cycle in an 18-6 win over the Lancaster JetHawks. The feat was considered to have been unprecedented at the time, but on August 7th of the same year, teammates Kevin Newman and Jacob Stallings of the Indianapolis Indians matched it. Playing second base full time, he was both a mid-season and postseason All-Star in the California League. This performance earned him an invitation to spring training with the major league Giants in 2019. In one of his first at-bats in the Cactus League on March 2nd, he broke the jaw of pitcher Luke Farrell of the Texas Rangers when he hit him with a line drive. He played 135 games with the Richmond Flying Squirrels of the Eastern League that year, putting up a disappointing batting line of .216/.287/.332, then hit below the Mendoza Line in the Arizona Fall League after the season.

After being forced into inactivity when the 2020 minor league season was cancelled by the COVID-19 pandemic, he was claimed by the Atlanta Braves, his hometwon team, in the minor league portion of the 2020 Rule V Draft. He spent 2021 and 2022 with the Mississippi Braves of the Southern League (although the circuit was temporarily known as the "Double-A South" the first year). He hit .201 in 76 games the first year, and .236 in 91 games the second, when he scored 44 runs, hit 22 doubles and also drove in 44 runs. He became a free agent after that season and moved on to the independent leagues, signing with the York Revolution of the Atlantic League for 2023.
