Biographical Information[edit]

Jakub Horáček has played and coached for the Slovakian national team.

In the 2010 European Championship U21, he hit .176/.333/.176. [1] In the 2011 European Championship Qualifier, he batted .267/.353/.400 with six runs in four games, tying Hans Heyrman for third in the event in runs (behind Steven De Lannoy and Randy Giorgiadis )and leading Slovakia. [2] He was at .200/.278/.267 in the 2013 B-Level European Championship. [3] During the 2015 B-Level European Championship, he was 1 for 3, backing up Tomáš Biskorovajný in center. His hit came off Ernesto Pereira. [4]

Playing for Apollo Bratislava in the 2016 Federations Cup, he posted a .375/.476/.500 batting line with seven RBI in five games. He tied Přemek Chroust for 7th in slugging and tied for 5th in RBI. [5] He hit .214/.389/.214 in the 2019 B-Level European Championship. [6] In the 2021 European Championship Qualifier, he batted .214/.267/.286 but drove in three runs in the finale to beat Ireland as Slovakia won a spot in the European Championship for the first time. [7]

He not only was a player for Slovakia in the 2021 European Championship but also coached; he was not the only member of the team's staff to also be a player (so were Biskorovajný and manager Martin Brunegraf). He was the team's main left fielder. In their European Championship debut, he started in left and hit 5th. His first at-bat, he struck out against former minor leaguer Mike Bolsenbroek. He later drew a walk from Jayden Gonesh. His first hit came against Sweden's Oskar Syrén. He finished the Euros at .182/.250/.182 with one RBI, handling seven putouts with no miscues. [8]
