Biographical Information[edit]

Jake Skole was a first-round pick in the 2010 amateur draft.

Skole was a high school baseball and football star, but missed most of his senior baseball season with an ankle injury. He had football and baseball scholarship offers to Georgia Tech when the Texas Rangers chose Skole #15 in the 2010 draft. He signed quickly and debuted on June 21st for the AZL Rangers, going 1 for 2.

He played seven seasons in the minor leagues, moving to the New York Yankees organization in 2015. However, he peaked in AA, playing a full season for the Frisco RoughRiders of the Texas League in 2014, during which he hit only .216 in 103 games. He hit .281 in 57 games for Frisco the following season, and also spent part of that year and of 2016 with the Trenton Thunder, the Yankees' affiliate in the AA Eastern League. His best year came in 2011 with the Hickory Crawdads of the South Atlantic League, where he hit .264 in 124 games, with 76 runs and 62 RBIs. He retired after the 2016 season and enrolled at the University of Georgia, where he was slated to play defensive back on the football team.

His brother, Matt Skole, began his professional career in 2011. His grandfather, Thomas Skole, played in the minors in the 1950s.
