Biographical Information[edit]

Jake Rosenberg has played for the Israeli national team.

He moved to Israel after college. [1] Joining the Israeli national team, he hit .231/.231/.462 with 5 RBI in 4 games in the 2019 B-Level European Championship; his 7th-inning grand slam off Petyo Petkov turned a 1-0 game into a solid Israeli lead. Israel won the event. [2] They advanced to the 2019 European Championship Playoff, he was Israel's DH, going 3 for 8 with a homer (off Marius Balandis) and 3 RBI as Israel swept Lithuania to go on to the 2019 European Championship. [3]

In the 2019 Euros, he backed up Jeremy Wolf in RF, going 2 for 8 and also pitching a shutout inning entering the Bronze Medal Game. His hits came off Spencer Kreisberg and Filippo Crepaldi. In the Bronze Medal Game against Spain, both teams were resting some regulars as they were saving players for the 2019 Europe/Africa Olympic Qualifier (having qualified for that event by this point). Rosenberg got to pitch the bottom of the 8th, relieving Eric Brodkowitz with a 16-11 deficit. He was the only hurler on either side to work a scoreless inning. Jhonny Bethencourt greeted him with a single, Oscar Angulo flew out and Jesús Ustariz drew a walk. Rosenberg recovered to get Lesther Galván looking at strike three then retired former major leaguer Fernando Martínez. [4]

At the Europe/Africa Olympic Qualifier, he did not get into a game as Israel won a spot in the 2020 Olympics, their first trip to the Olympics in baseball. [5] Many of his teammates were born in the US like he was (including four former major leaguers) but the others had gained Israeli citizenship to compete with the national team, whereas Rosenberg had settled in Israel before joining the team.
