He began his professional career the next year with the DSL Padres, going 1-2, 3.31 in 12 games, but had to sit out the 2020 season when the minor leagues were shut down by the COVID-19 pandemic.

He went stateside when he resumed his career in 2021, pitching for both the ACL Padres and Lake Elsinore Storm and going 0-5, 11.40, most of the damage coming from his four-game stint with Lake Elsinore during which he was battered for 27 runs - all earned - in 9 innings. He was with the Padres in spring training in 2024 when he was included in a blockbuster trade, being one of four players sent to the Chicago White Sox in return for ace Dylan Cease. Accompanying him were Drew Thorpe, Steven Wilson and Samuel Zavala, with Wilson the only one of the four with big league experience. He spent the season in AA with the Birmingham Barons of the Southern League, going 5-7, 3.71 in 23 games, with 122 strikeouts in 126 innings. He made his major league debut with the White Sox on September 3rd, pitching an inning in relief and giving up a run in a 9-0 loss to the Baltimore Orioles.
