Biographical Information[edit]

Jackson Williams was drafted by the San Francisco Giants in the supplemental 1st round of the 2007 amateur draft with the 43rd overall pick. He was signed by scout Todd Thomas for $708,750 and made his pro debut that summer. he played in the Giants organization from 2007 to 2013, playing all or part of the last four seasons in AAA with the Fresno Grizzlies.

Williams moved to the Colorado Rockies organization as a free agent in 2014, playing most of the year in AAA with the Colorado Springs Sky Sox. He was called up to Denver to replace an ailing Wilin Rosario late in the year and made his major league debut on August 27th when he came into a game against his old team, the Giants, in the bottom of the 9th as part of a double switch; he did not get to bat as the Giants scored the game-winning run with two outs. He was inserted in the starting line-up the next day, and his first major league at-bat came in memorable circumstances, as he was facing former Fresno teammate Yusmeiro Petit, who was one out shy of tying the major league record of 45 consecutive batters retired held by Mark Buehrle. Petit struck him out to tie the mark and then also struck out the next batter, Charlie Culberson, to set a new major league record. In the 5th, he singled off Petit for his first big league hit, and drew a walk later in the game, but the Rockies lost, 4-1.
