Biographical Information[edit]

Jack Stivers left Valparaiso University in 1947 when he was signed by the St. Louis Browns for a $20,000 bonus. His minor league career ended in 1950 with the Paducah Chiefs of the Mississippi-Ohio Valley League. He graduated from Valparaiso in 1951. Stivers retroactively became the first player from Alfred University to play professional baseball when he received his Master's Degree in 1962. Previously, John DiMartino, who attended in 1951 had played in the minors in 1952 and 1953.
