Biographical Information[edit]
John DiMartino left Alfred University in 1951 after his freshman fall semester when he was signed by the Philadelphia Phillies. He played for the Greenville Spinners, Wilmington Blue Rocks and the Granby Phillies in 1952. He played for the Bradford Phillies in 1953, going 2-2, before he was released in June.
DiMartino held the distinction of being the first minor league player from Alfred University for nine years. In 1962 Jack Stivers retroactively became the first player from Alfred University to play professional baseball when he received his Master's Degree from Alfred in 1962. He had played in the St. Louis Browns organization from 1948 to 1950.
