Alfred University was founded in in 1836. Baseball was played on campus beginning in 1866 and it had a varsity baseball team until 1936. Despite having no baseball team since 1937, four Alfred students played professional baseball: Jack Stivers (1948-1950), John DiMartino (1952-53), Greg Prusia (1988-89) and Evan Katz (2017 and 2023). Baseball returned to the school in 2024.
