Biographical Information[edit]

Greg Prusia was a 36th round draft pick in the 1988 draft by the Kansas City Royals. Prusia graduated from Alfred University which did not have a baseball team since 1937. Prusia was an offensive and defensive standout football player who played baseball during the summer of his college years in the New York Collegiate Baseball League. He was signed by Royals scout Jim Moran, the father of Jimmy Moran (minors2).

Prusia, an outfielder, led the 1988 GCL Royals in batting average (.263), slugging average (.388) and runs batted in (30) in the 63-game season. He was among the league leaders of the Gulf Coast League in home runs, doubles and RBIs. In 1989 Prusia played in 85 games with the Appleton Foxes of the Midwest League. He hit .235 with three home runs and 25 RBIs.
