Biographical Information

Jack Albright was signed out of Cal on June 2, 1943, by the Boston Red Sox and assigned to the Louisville Colonels of the Class AA American Association. He had been a member of the V-7 Naval Reserve in San Francisco since January 14, 1942, and played for Louisville before reporting to active duty. He served on the USS Bebas a destroyer escort and underwent Underwater Demolition Training at Ft. Pierce, FL. He was part of Underwater Demolition Team #22 and served mainly clearing the Japanese harbors after the war was over.

When released from active duty at Bainbridge, MD, as a Lieutenant in May 1946, he played for Louisville and was sold the Philadelphia Phillies. In 1947, he began the season with Louisville, and on May 19 made his major league debut with the Phillies. He appeared in 41 major league games, primarily wearing number 22. The 1948 season was spent with the Utica Blue Sox of the Class A Eastern League and the Toronto Maple Leafs of the Class AAA International League. Albright continued playing in the minor leagues for the Seattle Rainiers of the Pacific Coast League through the 1951 season.

He is buried at Ft. Rosecrans National Cemetary in Point Loma, San Diego, California.
