Biographical Information

Jérôme Dussart has played in the French Division I and been on the French national team.

He debuted in France's top league (then called Division Élite) in 1999, going 0 for 2 for the Paris Université Club at age 17. In 2000, he was 8 for 60 between two teams, and 7 for 56 in '01. In 2002, he was Paris's main catcher, fielding .984 and hitting .217/.309/.301 with 23 runs in 22 games. He also went 4-0 with two saves and a 2.84 ERA. He was 3rd on the team in runs and tied for second in wins. During 2003, he improved to .267/.341/.347 but did not pitch as much or as well.

He still made France's squad for the 2003 European Championship but did not get into a game. Backing up Pierrick Lemestre in the 2003 Baseball World Cup, he went 0 for 3 and handled 8 putouts at catcher. In 2004, he moved to the Savigny-sur-Orge Lions, batting .267/.341/.347 and fielding .973 while catching an impressive 70% of attempted base-stealers (his career percentage was 22.6% through 2019). He went 2-1 with a 3.00 ERA in '05 and hit .214/.347/.286.

In 2006, he produced at a .244/.381/.282 clip for the Lions; he had a 1-1, 4.74 record. The next year, he fell to .207/.370/.276. For the 2008 Lions, he was 3 for 15 with 6 walks, backing up Vincent Ferreira now. He mostly pitched and did well (4-0, Sv, 1.60). In 2009, he was 0 for 4 and was 0-1 with a 3.86 ERA. During 2010, he was 1-0, allowing one run in 12 IP; he hit .270/.378/.302. His playing time fell again the next year (5 for 21, 5 BB, 2B); he allowed five runs (one earned) in 6 2/3 IP.

Dussart hit .383/.415/.511 in 2012. Had he qualified, he would have been 6th in the league in average, between Bastien Dagneau and Ernesto Martínez. In '13, he slumped to .139/.262/.167 and rebounded to .258/.361/.258 the next season. During 2015, he hit .293/.372/.305. He was 4 for 11 with a run when Paris hosted the 2015 European Cup; only Douglas Rodriguez hit better among their regulars.

At age 34, Jérôme was 1 for 6 with two walks, as Amin Touahri took over the catching job for Paris. He did not play in 2017, then spent 2018-2019 in the French minors.
