Biographical Information[edit]
Outfielder Isaac Collins was the first player since Hall of Famer Joe Mauer (in 2001) to be named a finalist for the Mr. Minnesota Award in both baseball and football, doing so in 2016. However, when he went to Creighton University, he concentrated solely on baseball. He was mainly a second baseman in college and batted .293 in 54 games before being drafted by the Colorado Rockies in the 9th round of the 2019 amateur draft.
He was moved to the outfield by the Rockies, although he had played there previously in summer collegiate ball in the Cape Cod League. He played in the Rockies' system until 2022, when he hit .221 in 111 games for the Hartford Yard Goats of the AA Eastern League. He was claimed by the Milwaukee Brewers in the minor league portion of the 2022 Rule V Draft on December 7th that year and spent the bulk of the 2023 season with the Biloxi Shuckers of the AA Southern League, hitting .269 in 93 games. He was briefly promoted to the AAA Nashville Sounds, going hitless in 3 games, but in 2024 had a good season there, hitting .273/.386/.475 in 113 games. He was called up to Milwaukee on September 8th, replacing the aptly named Brewer Hicklen on the roster, and got a hit in his major league debut that day, a 4-1 loss to his former team, the Colorado Rockies. He started in left field and went 1 for 2 before being replaced by pinch-hitter Sal Frelick in the 8th inning.
