Biographical Information[edit]

Ilya Onokhov was the first baseman for the USSR national team in the 1990 Goodwill Games; he was nicknamed The Vacuum Cleaner for his glovework. He got a single against Team USA. In the 1991 Intercontinental Cup, he hit .190/.190/.286 with one run and one RBI in seven games, fielding .983 as the Soviet's starting first baseman. His batting line was similar to the team line of .202/.265/.270 while his two doubles were one shy of team leader Leonid Korneev. In the 1993 European Championship, he backed up Stepan Rubanov at 1B for the Russian national team, going 0 for 5 with a walk and a run and handling 16 chances with one miscue. In the Russian League, he played for SKV and RusStar.
