Biographical Information[edit]
Hyun-suk Yang played for the South Korean national team and in the Korea Baseball Organization.
He was on the South Korean squad that won Gold in the 1997 Asian Championship. [1] The Haitai Tigers took him in the fifth round of the 2000 KBO draft. [2] He hit .235/.291/.359 in 89 games as a rookie in 2000. He split 2001 between the KIA Tigers and SK Wyverns, producing at a .246/.335/.429 clip and setting career highs in runs (34), hits (71), doubles (16), triples (2), homers (11), RBI (44) and walks (35). He hit .267/.360/.382 in 223 plate appearances over 88 games for SK in 2002 (tying for 10th in the league with 12 times hit by pitch) and .226/.247/.298 in 89 plate appearances and 55 games in 2003. Remaining primarily a pinch-hitter, he hit .172/.234/.345 for the LG Twins in 2004, six of his ten hits going for extra bases.
After serving his mandatory military service, he returned to LG in 2007 but was 0 for 3 to end his career with a .240 average and .381 slugging in 400 games.
