Biographical Information

Hyun-suk Yang played for the South Korean national team and in the Korea Baseball Organization.

He was on the South Korean squad that won Gold in the 1997 Asian Championship. The Haitai Tigers took him in the fifth round of the 2000 KBO draft. He hit .235/.291/.359 in 89 games as a rookie in 2000. He split 2001 between the KIA Tigers and SK Wyverns, producing at a .246/.335/.429 clip and setting career highs in runs (34), hits (71), doubles (16), triples (2), homers (11), RBI (44) and walks (35). He hit .267/.360/.382 in 223 plate appearances over 88 games for SK in 2002 (tying for 10th in the league with 12 times hit by pitch) and .226/.247/.298 in 89 plate appearances and 55 games in 2003. Remaining primarily a pinch-hitter, he hit .172/.234/.345 for the LG Twins in 2004, six of his ten hits going for extra bases.

After serving his mandatory military service, he returned to LG in 2007 but was 0 for 3 to end his career with a .240 average and .381 slugging in 400 games.
