Biographical Information[edit]
Hyu-in Seo played in the Korea Baseball Organization for 10 years.
Seo played for the South Korean national team in the 1983 Asian Championship and 1983 Intercontinental Cup. He was 0 for 2 in the 1984 Amateur World Series, backing up Young-shin Kim behind the dish. The MBC Blue Dragons selected him in the first round of the 1986 KBO draft, and he only played one game with the big club in 1986. Seo was 6-for-33 in 1987, then he went 6-for-38 in 1988. He was their backup catcher in 1989, and he hit .254/.380/.381 in 57 games. When Dong-soo Kim joined the team, Seo lost his spot in 1990, and he only played 12 games with the big club.
He hit .152/.231/.304 in 1991, and he played 71 games with a .225/.314/.319 batting line in 1992. Seo's batting line fell to .156/.317/.188 in 1993, and he went 2-for-17 in 1994. After having a 8-for-44 record in 1995, Seo announced his retirement and became a coach. He was the battery coach of the LG Twins in 1999, 2006 and from 2009 to 2010. He also coached their minor league team from 1996 to 1998 and from 2007 to 2008, and he was the battery coach of the SK Wyverns from 2002 to 2005. Seo later coached Choongang High School from 2015 to 2022.
Overall, Seo hit .207/.316/.303 with 101 hits in 10 seasons in the KBO.
