Biographical Information[edit]

Hugh Brinson pitched in the minor leagues and the CPBL.

Brinson was signed by the Toronto Blue Jays in 1985, and he went 4-3 with a 1.51 ERA for the GCL Blue Jays in his first season; he struck out 53 in 41 2/3 IP and allowed only 23 hits. He was 11-8 with a 3.49 ERA for the Ventura County Gulls in 1986, and he was 4th in strikeouts in the California League (between Calvin Jones and Donnie Iasparro), 7th in ERA (between Todd Provence and Willie Fraser) while tying for 7th in victories. He tied Tim Englund for 5th in the Jays chain in wins and he was 5th in K (between José Mesa and Cesar Mejia).

Brinson then had a 11-5 record with a 3.11 ERA for the Dunedin Blue Jays in 1987, and he also had a 5.40 ERA in 8 games for the Knoxville Blue Jays. He tied for 4th among Toronto farmhands in victories. Brinson improved to 8-6 with a 2.18 ERA in Knoxville in 1988. He was sidelined by injury early in 1989 and released a year later. The Uni-President Lions signed him in 1991, but he struggled as his ERA was 5.68 in 10 games (with a 4-4 record), and he was released in the middle of the season.
