Biographical Information[edit]

Hudson Boyd was timed in the 95-97 mph range while in high school. He was 13-0 with a 0.44 ERA as a senior, striking out 131 and allowing 37 hits in 80 innings. Baseball America named him a first-team All-American pitcher alongside Archie Bradley, Dylan Bundy, Dillon Maples and Kyle Smith. The Minnesota Twins took him with the 55th pick of the 2011 amateur draft; it was a first-round selection that was compensation for the loss of Jesse Crain to free agency. It was also Minnesota's third choice, following infielders Levi Michael and Travis Harrison. Boyd had attended South Fort Myers High School, across the street from the Twins' spring training camp. The scout was Billy Corrigan. He signed for a $1 million bonus

Boyd made his pro debut on June 19, 2012, Opening Day, for the Elizabethton Twins against the Danville Braves. He allowed 4 hits, 3 walks and 2 runs (one earned) in 3 innings in taking the loss.
