Biographical Information[edit]
Hsiao-Wei Huang played in the CPBL for 5 years.
Huang was drafted by the La New Bears in the 11th round of the 2003 CPBL Draft, and he represented Taiwan in the 2004 Haarlem Honkbalweek. He hit .230/.260/.338 in 2005, but he mainly stayed in the minor league in 2006 so he only played 14 games with the big club. Huang recorded a .420/.500/.648 with a league-leading 28 RBI in the minors, so the Bears brought him into the 2006 Taiwan Series. He was 1-for-1 in the series, and he won his first Taiwan Series title as the Bears swept the Uni-President Lions. Huang then hit .307/.381/.426 in 38 games in 2007, but his batting line fell to .247/.278/.376 in 2008. After hitting .196/.258/.339 in 2009, Huang was involved in a game-fixing scandal and he was banned for life.
Overall, Huang had hit .254/.306/.372 with 88 hits and 5 homers in 5 seasons in the CPBL.
