Biographical Information

Homy Ovalles has played and coached in the minors. His father Evelio Ovalles pitched for the Venezuelan national team and brother Juan Ovalles played pro ball.

He was an infielder in the Montreal Expos chain from 1994-1997 and appeared for the independent Alexandria Aces in 2008. The 2017 Phillies Media Guide also says he was with the Venezuelan national team from 2000-2005 but it is unclear which tournaments he participated in (he was not in the 2002 Intercontinental Cup and Venezuela did not play in a Baseball World Cup in that span).

Ovalles was an instructor with the VSL Phillies from 2012-2015 then joined their Dominican staff in 2015. He was hitting coach for the DSL Phillies White in 2017-2019 and 2021.
