Biographical Information[edit]

Nishimura represented Japan in the 1981 Intercontinental Cup. The Taiyo Whales drafted him in the third round of the 1982 NPB draft. Nishimura hit .295/.328/.443 in his rookie year, but he slumped to .250/.330/.330 in 1984. When Jerry White joined the team in 1985, Nishimura lost his spot and the Whales demoted him to the ni-gun. Although he led the Eastern League in steals in 1987, he still couldn't get many chances, only playing 23 games combined for the big club from 1985 to 1987. He announced his retirement after the 1987 season.
Overall, Nishimura had hit .257/.315/.358 in 4 seasons in NPB.
