Biographical Information[edit]
Hiroki Nobayashi was an infielder in Nippon Pro Baseball. He is the father of Ren Nakata (Nakata switched to his mother's maiden name when his parents divorced) and the former brother-in-law of Takayuki Murakami (who is also brother-in-law of Norihiro Nakamura).
Nobayashi was picked by the Kintetsu Buffaloes in the second round of the 1987 NPB draft. In his debut in NPB, he batted for Shigeru Kurihashi and fanned against Toyohiko Yoshida. It was his lone at-bat in 1989. He returned to NPB in 1991, after he was traded to the Hiroshima Carp with cash for Eiji Kiyokawa. He was 5 for 37 with a walk, 12 whiffs, a double and a triple in 22 games for the '91 Carp, primarily as a backup third baseman. His first hit in NPB was He was traded back to the Buffaloes for cash in 1993. In 1995, he went 3 for 20 with a double, walk, two errors, no runs, one RBI and six strikeouts as a backup to Nakamura. As a free agent, he signed with the Yakult Swallows and was 2 for 17 with 3 walks, a double and 5 strikeouts for them in 1997, backing up Katsuyuki Dobashi and Hatsuhiko Tsuji at 2B and Takahiro Ikeyama at 3B. Overall, he had gone 10 for 71 with 3 doubles, a triple, five walks, six runs, four RBI and 24 strikeouts in 59 NPB games for a .141/.197/.211 batting line. He
