Biographical Information[edit]

Howard "Highball" Wilson pitched four seasons in the major leagues for three different teams. Born in Philadelphia, PA, he was part of the pennant-winning 1902 Athletics, for whom he went 7-4 with a 2.43 ERA (the league ERA was 3.57).

While Howard is remembered with the nickname "Highball", it appears that Sporting Life called him "Abe Wilson".

There is a photo of him as part of the 1902 Athletics in the book Connie Mack and the Early Years of Baseball.

The Reach Guide for 1902 notes that Wilson led 1902 American League pitchers with the highest fielding percentage.
