Reach Guide

From BR Bullpen

Reach's Official Base Ball Guide was published between 1883 and 1939 as a direct competitor of the Spalding Guide. Its title varied during its history but always included the word "Reach". It was a publication of the A.J. Reach Company, founded by former star player Albert Reach, from 1883 until 1927. It was published by Wright and Ditson until 1934, after which it was published by American Sports Publishing Co. until 1939. It was generally considered more comprehensive than the Spalding Guide in its coverage.

It was the official publication of the American Association from 1883 until 1892, and was the American League's official publication from 1902 until its end, when it was merged with the Spalding Guide and became the Spalding-Reach Guide.
