Biographical Information[edit]

Henry Cabrera was a minor league pitcher for six years.

Debuting with the 2002 DSL Red Sox, he went 3-3 with a save and a 1.75 ERA. He fell to 2-4, 3.48 for the 2003 DSL Red Sox 2 then was even worse (3-5, 2 Sv, 4.04) back with the DSL Red Sox in 2004, though he did fan 57 in 55 2/3 IP. Coming to the US in 2005, he pitched for the GCL Red Sox (2-2, 3.67 in 7 G) and Greenville Drive (0-4, 6.45, 15 BB, 27 K in 22 1/3 IP). The Pittsburgh Pirates chose him in the AAA phase of the 2005 Rule V Draft. He was 6-3 with a save and a 3.99 ERA for the 2006 Williamsport Crosscutters, striking out 59 and walking 17 in 58 2/3 IP; his teammates were a combined 22-44. On September 6, he struck out 8 and walked 3 while giving up no hits against the Batavia Muckdogs; Olivo Astacio worked the final 3 innings of a combined no-hitter. Cabrera faded in 2007 with the Hickory Crawdads (5-6, 5.06) and Lynchburg Hillcats (0-1, 4 R in 3 IP) to end his career. He had gone 21-28 with 5 saves and a 4.08 ERA in 93 minor league games (52 starts). In 335 1/3 IP, he had allowed 288 hits and 139 walks while striking out 325.
